Apple has released no fewer than 10 models of its regular iPad since the tablet’s initial launch in 2010.
While the Mini, Air and Pro models tend to get the most attention, there’s no sign of Apple ditching its standard model any time soon.
Indeed, according to the newest reports, a new 11th-generation model might be released in 2025.
There have also been many rumours about what we can expect, including a second model.
When will the new iPad (11th-gen) be released?
Although we saw new iPad Air and iPad Pro models in 2024, there’s been no sign of the regular iPad 11.
It was thought possible that we’d see one of those two, or maybe both, launch alongside the iPhone 16, but we only got the Apple Watch Series 10, a new Ultra 2 colourway and new AirPods.
Admittedly, the iPad mini 7 has since hit shops, but Apple is still keeping quiet about the new regular iPad.

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple will launch two new entry-level iPads (J481 and J482), likely alongside the iPhone 16E (previously referred to as the iPhone SE 4) and the next iPad Air in April 2025.
How much will the new iPad (11th-gen) cost?

As you can see, the 10th-gen iPad was significantly more expensive than its predecessor, but that’s unlikely to be repeated.
In another Bloomberg article, Gurman says it’ll “probably end up being a cost-reduced version of the 10th-generation model”.
Assuming there are no downgrades (and a potential processor upgrade), this would be great news.
What specs and features will the new iPad (11th-gen) have?
Mark Gurman has revealed that the forthcoming iPad 11 will feature two significant upgrades to support Apple Intelligence: the A17 Pro chip and 8GB of RAM. These enhancements could bring its performance on par with the latest iPad mini.

Back in January 2023, Gurman hinted that, despite internal upgrades, the 11th-gen iPad isn’t expected to introduce any major design changes from the 10th-gen iPad. The current iPad 10 includes an A14 Bionic chip and 4GB of RAM.
With the launch of the new entry-level iPad, Apple Intelligence—a feature requiring an iPad Pro or Air with at least an M1 chip, an iPad mini with the A17 Pro, or an iPad 11—could be available across all current-generation iPads.
Gurman also mentions that Apple is expected to introduce updated Magic Keyboards for the 11th-gen iPad.

Previously, Apple tipster Majin Bu suggested that the 11th-gen iPad would be equipped with an M2 chip, 16GB of RAM, and 512GB of storage. While this is certainly an optimistic vision, it’d mean the the current iPad Pro‘s base specs (6GB/128GB) would be inferior to this cheaper device.
Majin Bu also suggested that the upcoming iPad will retain the same design as the 10th-gen model, and that accessories will maintain full compatibility.
That being said, the new entry-level 11th-gen iPad might potentially see improvements in other areas, such as support for the second-gen Apple Pencil. But it’s not yet clear what else could change.
However, assuming it does arrive in Q1 2025, the device will definitely be running iPadOS 18 out of the box.
